Title and parts: The Taking IV (1/1) Author: Jenn Chiprich Email feedback: ipomea@msn.com Category: SRA Rated: R Summary: This story is a definite deviation from the kind that I usually write. This is the continuation of the third block of stories dealing with a possible future. It's a romance break...I really needed it! I hope all enjoy it...let me know, I love to get e-mail. School has a way of making you think too practically, so here's my walk in fancy! Timespan/Spoilers: The story itself occurs in the future. There may be mention of episodes from all four seasons. Disclaimer: Well, all these fun folks from The X-files (Mulder and Scully) definitely do not belong to me(No matter how much I wish it). They belong to Chris Carter, Ten Thirteen Productions and Fox Broadcasting and are used without permission. No copyright infringement is intended and no profit is being made from their use Walter S. Skinner squinted into the late April sun and adjusted his glasses for better viewing. The weather of late had improved nicely and it was feasible to go without a coat. He pressed his hands deeper into his pocket and sighed. He was content. In this day and age, it was hard to say the word contentment and think of the current situation, but he was doing it. He was enjoying his time with Maggie: her company, her personality, her very essence. Not since his Sharon had passed on years before had he known such peace of soul. It was a little after five, he noted from the clock on the steeple nearby, plenty of time to get home and still be within curfew. Walter was thinking of the dinner of vegetable stew that awaited him at home. Rations had increased as of late, thanks to the exportation of food stuffs from the Florida camp; they could enjoy a tasty and healthy meal now. The house loomed in front of him and he quickened his pace to jump the first steps. Yes, he was feeling better than he had recently. The computer was finished construction, the protein was near completion in the sequencing and Maggie was a great cook. There was hope after all. ------- Fox shifted his weight from foot to foot in front of the dryer. Both he and Walter had completed construction the night before, in shifts as usual. He was tired, and his hazel eyes didn't hide that fact. On the utility, was the object of his perusal: the computer. Shody by any standards, it was a monument to his and the others drive for survival. There was just one small glitch to their plan..... "The receiver, huh?" Scully shook her head. "You've lost me now, Mulder, what are you talking about?" "A receiver and sender." he rubbed his hands in excitement, "I had totally forgotten that part. How does a computer work when connected in a network, Scully? When you hook up to a server and get on the internet, how is that accomplished?" "A modem." Dana's head hung lower then before. Her nose twitched as it detected the smell of cooked vegetables. "We need some sort of a modem." "Well, yes." he crossed his lean arms across his chest and leaned back against the dryer like he used to lean against his desk. "The programming isn't a problem...all we need to do is hook into the already existing network that the Guardians have in place. It's the modem that we are going to have a hard time with. Any ideas?" "Asking for a miracle there, Spooky." Dana sighed and shifted her feet. "It would be easy if we had our cel phones with us; they were equipped with internet capabilities..." Mulder lifted his head from where it had fallen on his chest, a new glint in his eyes. "That's right, they were." His hands began to rub together in anticipation. "Dana? Fox?" Maggie opened the interior door to the room and smiled as she encountered her two errant children. "Walt's home and dinner's on." she stopped speaking as she saw her daughter's face. "What is it? Dana? I thought that we were having a celebratory dinner." "It's nothing, Mom." Dana stood straighter next to Mulder and nudged him with her hand to walk ahead. "Just found another glitch." Skinner stood next to the kitchen table with his head turned towards the door. "What glitch?" Mulder noticed that Skinner's glasses were slightly tilted and there was a slight redness to his checks that wasn't often there. Also present, the investigator in Mulder stated, was the look of a man that had just gotten kissed senseless. I should know that look, he thought, I have it on my face often. "Nothing that I can't handle, sir." Walter nodded and pulled out the chair for Maggie to sit down. "I hope so, Mulder. Tonight I am not thinking about anything or doing anything..." "Except Maggie." Fox said under his breath to Dana as he leaned over her to sit down. Scully heard the comment and smiled at Fox. He was having a harder time dealing with Maggie's and Skinner's relationship than she was. She swatted him under the table and shook her head playfully. "I think we should take the hint, too." "Pass the bread." Fox nudged her arm and returned the playful gesture. "What hint would that be? Think of Maggie?" "No, genius..." she spooned the stew onto her plate and waited until the mobile movements of Fox's face settled into a questioning gaze. Leaning over, she placed her mouth next to his ear. "No...that we should only think about and do each other tonight." she sighed into his lobe. His mouth formed a silent Oh. Carefully he spooned his food onto his plate and collected the rest of his meal. Once he was satisfied that he had all the food that he wanted at that time, he placed his hand in his lap and began to eat. Dana mirrored his movements and primly laid her hand in her lap, also. Their hands met and ran along each other's fingers. Dinner past in semi-silence, the quiet only broken by their recounts of their day. ------ Maggie turned down the sheets on the bed and turned to Walter. They had long since shrugged off their respective uneasiness around each other in the bedroom. She smiled as he came forward, pulling her into his arms. This was good. Her heart was happy. There was still a general sadness to their souls, but her step was light. Another man had come into her life and she had welcomed him with open arms. And not only was this man good and loving, but her loved her daughter and adopted son as his own. Skinner turned out the light and leaned to kiss her mouth. ------- "What is your problem with them?" Mulder opened his eyes from where he was laying on his back. The sheets were cool against his naked skin, the warmth that Dana gave him against his front was a nice contrast. She ran her hand down his chest muscles to play lightly with the hair there. He caught the hand and raised it to his lips. "I really don't have a problem with them, Scully." he said quietly, shifting his head on the covers. "I just feel that she should have the best." Dana laughed lightly and pulled her hand back to continue running it down his muscles. "And that would be?" He stretched lightly and grimaced. "I don't know. I just...it bothers me that it is a product of our situation and not the natural progression of a relationship." Scully leaned back to look at his face. His gaze lowered from her face to alight on her naked chest. Below the covers, he shifted his leg to raise his knee. She sighed as his legs brushed hers. "Do you think the same of us?" His eyes returned to hers, the hazel depths darkening. "No." "Why not?" "Because somehow or another, Dana Scully, I would have gotten you into my bed. You were already in my heart and my skin, what was one more area?" he raised a hand to play with her breast. "Do you think it's because of the situation and not a natural progression of our relationship?" Her eyelids slid closed to cover her eys as she hummed in pleasure. "No. I've wanted to be with you since somewhere around the second month of our partnership." "That long?" he moved his hand off her breast to run it lightly over her hip. "Um hmm." Scully watched as he followed his hand with his eyes. "Mulder?" "Yeah, Scully?" he leaned forward to kiss her neck. "What are we going to do about the receiver?" His head came up to allow his eyes to stare into hers. "Don't worry, Scully. You gave me an idea this afternoon. Relax." "What are you doing, Agent Mulder?" "Seducing you. It's only been twenty minutes, Dana, you should really get your short term memory checked if you have already forgotten." Scully closed her eyes as his hands and mouth worked magic. His fingers, often noted as being long and graceful, fluttered down her skin in waves. His mouth, the pouty lip brushing her skin, worked in tandem with his hands. Against her hip, she felt the evidence of his arousal, hard and hot. "Fox." "I love you..." he muttered. "I've wanted to do this forever, do you know that? I've wanted to love you..." he pulled the sheet off of the both of them and rolled her onto her back. He pulled himself on top of her and smiled into her eyes. "I've thought about you and I, children....it just never seemed the right time. I never thought that you..." "Shh." she laid a hand on his lips to stop them from speaking. "I know. I never thought you loved me either. Make love to me." "With pleasure, Agent Scully, with pleasure." ------- Fox leaned back in his desk chair, and stopped the whistle that whetted his lips from coming out. The days were still hell, the anguish over the slow state of their plans a thorn in everyone's side. The nights, though, the nights were great. Any night, he thought, that I can have Dana in my arms is heaven. At first, when he first noticed her femininity all those years ago, he had done a mental double take. His 'perfect' woman at that time was tall, brunette and built. Scully was small, petite, and a natural redhead. But now, after a night spent making love to her small perfect body, he didn't know what he had ever seen in that type to begin with. His office partner looked up and shook his head. "Good night, huh?" "Yeah." Mulder shifted in the chair. "A great night." His office mate nodded, and motioned toward the door. "I'm going to go get a drink, want anything?" "No thanks." Mulder nodded as the man stepped through the door and started down the hall. He released the breath that he was holding and looked over to the pile of issued hardware that they had been given recently. With the psychological group now diverse and moving throughout the population on the base on a daily basis to implement the plan, the Guardians had decided that it was a good idea to issue cel phones. The one that the two of them had was a small model, one that flipped shut. It did, however, have a small port in the back, he noted as he checked it over. That port was for a laptop or small computer cable. He smiled and nodded to himself. Bingo. ----- End (1/1)
